First images of the New Ghost in the Shell: Arise Series!

Anime enthusiast website Seventh Style has posted images of the new-look Motoko Kusanagi from the newly announced Ghost in the Shell series Arise.

Quite frankly, this just looks like a different character entirely. My gut reaction is to dismiss the design completely, however after the recent successful redesign of Dante in the latest entry of the Devil May Cry video game series, I’m less willing to be so dismissive.

Either way, I’m extremely excited about the prospect of a new Ghost in the Shell series, so I’ll hang on with baited breath until we see some footage.

The show is due to launch in 2013, with Kize Kazuchika (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Blood: The Last Vampire) directing and Ubukata Tow (Mardock Scamble) writing. That’s some pretty impressive talent.
