Die Antwoord to Star in Neill Blomkamp's 'Chappie'

South African news site Die Burger reported today that the zef rap rave group Die Antwoord will star in Neill Blomkamp's next film after Elysium, simply titled Chappie.

Members Ninja and Yo-landi Vi$$er will be starring as themselves in lead roles. The film was announced back in 2011, and reunites Blomkamp with his District 9 co-writer Terri Tatchell. Not much information has been released about the film so far, though Blomkamp has said that the film will be a science fiction comedy, and that it will be "fucking hilarious", although I'd prefer to think that he actually said it will be "fookin funny, bra".

Yo-landi dropped a hint about her role back in 2012 in the song Baby's On Fire, in which she rapped "Neill Blomkamp's making me a movie star". Is no secret that Ninja and Yo-landi are huge fans of Blomkamp's work, making numerous references to his film District 9 in their lyrics, with Ninja even wearing a prosthetic 'prawn' arm in the Evil Boy music video.

Those worried about the music group's ability to carry a film needn't worry, as Ninja and Yo-landi have shown fantastic comedic timing in their many music videos. See the video for the previously mentioned song Baby's On Fire below to see what I mean.
