Final Trailer for Tony Jaa's TOM YUM GOONG 2
Posted by Stephen Lambrechts (@Slambrechts)
Most people count ONG BAK to be Tony Jaa's best film, which I've always found quite strange. Sure enough, it's the movie that introduced the Thai action star to the world, but in my opinion, the film was outclassed in absolutely every way by Jaa's follow-up, TOM YUM GOONG (a.k.a. THE PROTECTOR).
TOM YUM GOONG had a better, more involving story, better locations (Bangkok AND Sydney, Australia), way better fight-scenes (nothing compares to Jaa's fight with Capoeria champ Lateef Crowder, or the scene in which Jaa cripples around 30 guys in a row) and better directing (the single-take steadicam shot fight scene that went through the various levels of that building was breathtaking). So personally, I'm way more psyched about TOM YUM GOONG 2 than I was for any of the ONG BAK sequels.
The final trailer for the film is here, and it is perhaps a little too reliant on CGI-assisted action. Still, looks like a whole lot of fun! Looking forward to seeing more RZA (who's slowly becoming the black David Carradine), more of that sexy female combatant (Tony, is that a love scene we glimpsed in the trailer? Way to go!), and less of the really, really fake looking fire effects. Tell us what you think of the trailer in the comments below!
