SPRING BREAKERS 2 Announced by Wild Bunch

Well this comes as a surprise. Screen Daily is reporting that film production company Wild Bunch has announced a sequel to Harmony Korine's amazing film SPRING BREAKERS. The film, entitled SPRING BREAKERS: THE SECOND COMING has the partygoers take on an extreme militant Christian sect that attempts to convert them. Apparently there will be a mix of new and old cast members in the film. I wonder if Selena Gomez's character Faith will be one of the Christians, seeing as she was last seen escaping Spring Break in a very shaken-up state.

Music video legend and director of SPUN Jonas Åkerlund will take the helm, which is kind of a perfect choice. His music video for The Prodigy's 'Smack My Bitch Up' and his film SPUN are demented as all hell. TRAINSPOTTING author Irvine Welsh will apparently script the film, so the pedigree is definitely still there. Original director Harmony Korine will not be involved and obviously James Franco won't be either, so there's that to worry about. Let's hope this lives up to the first. Alien will be hard to top.
