Since it was announced way back in 2002, the proposed live action-adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's AKIRA has found itself in the limbo of the all too dreaded production hell. Despite having Grade A talents as Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Chris Pine, Mila Kunis and even Gary Oldman all attached at one point or another, the project has none the less still ran into trouble finding its feet. The closest we've come to seeing a live-action adaptation would be the 2012 found footage Superhero film CHRONICLE, which was pretty awesome on its own terms.

So, naturally, leave it to a bunch of fans to take the task upon themselves in creating a live-action version of their beloved film. A collective group of fans, known as 'The Akira Project', have taken the task of creating a five minute fan-made teaser. Giving us just a small glimpse of what a potential live-action AKIRA film could be. Needless to say, but its pretty rad.
