South Korean Thriller NO TEARS FOR THE DEAD Gets Its First Trailer

Posted by Daniel Mann (friend me @danielma861)

Greetings and salutations Maniacs. I think by now it's no secret that I pretty much adore cinema from South Korea. Thumb through my DVD/Blu Ray collection and you will note the shelf that is purely dedicated to South Korean films.

In 2011, Director Jeong-Beom Lee hit the Korean scene with his sophomore effort THE MAN FROM NOWHERE. For those who have not seen it, it is essentially a mashup of Tony Scott's hyper revenge drama MAN ON FIRE and Luc Besson's own Hitman drama LEON: THE PROFESSIONAL, only set in South Korea. It told the story of a broken down former gangster who moves into a small apartment complex, where he befriends a little girl who lives in a neighbouring apartment. But when the little girl is unexpectedly kidnapped by a collective group of thugs, he sets out on a mission to find her and bring her back to the safety of her mother.

THE MAN FROM NOWHERE proved to be a box office success in its home country as it became one of the highest grossing films of the year. It also proved Director Jeong-Beom Lee to be quite adept at Directing Action. Want further proof? Just check out the incredibly executed knife fight scene in THE MAN FROM NOWHERE.

Now, Director Jeong-Beom Lee returns with his new film NO TEARS FOR THE DEAD. Judging by the first trailer, it is safe to say that Director Beom Lee is looking to be in top form once again. The film stars Jang Dong-Gun as a professional hitman who makes a fatal mistake when he falls in love with his target, played by Kim Min-Hee.

'No Tears For The Dead' co-stars Kang Han-Na, Brian Tee, Kim Hee-Won, and Min Seong-Wook. The film is due for release across South Korea on the 5th June, 2014. There are no details as of yet on Release Plans outside of South Korea.

Check out the trailer and tell us your thoughts.
